Upholding Academic Integrity: A Path to Honest Learning

Honesty, the cornerstone of ESP, empowers individuals to pursue knowledge with integrity, creating a ripple effect beyond the classroom and preparing students for ethical and responsible futures. Ms. Madiha Musharraf, the Extended Essay Coordinator, and Librarian Saima Farooqui conducted an important session on academic integrity and MLA referencing style on September 14, 2024. During this session, students gained a deeper understanding of the significance of academic honesty in both IB and Cambridge curricula, which emphasize academic integrity and the distinctions between collusion and collaboration. The discussion also covered measures to avoid plagiarism. Additionally, students and teachers participated in a citation activity that included a variety of sources, such as AI-generated content and paraphrased citations in MLA format. This session aimed to raise awareness of these principles, discuss common challenges, and offer strategies to promote ethical behavior in academic work.
