Fozia Mehfooz
Principal Junior School
Primary Years Programme Coordinator
Eastern Public School
She is a person who believes, people learn more by doing, trying, applying, and experiencing and that, education of an individual takes place and extends way beyond schools and colleges and laminated certificates and degrees.
A Bachelor of Science from Barkatullah University, Bhopal, and an Intermediate from ICAI she started her teaching career with a renowned GCSE school in Sharjah, UAE, a truly international school in every sense with both the teachers and the students, from almost every part of the world but dominantly Arab world. She gained pedagogical know-how, expertise, and experience that no single degree course or institute could have offered.
She began as an MoE certified K1 class teacher and soon her unique approach to teaching and organizational skills were acknowledged and went on to become the ’Head Teacher’ and ‘Content/Curriculum Developer’, which gave her an opportunity to introduce certain revolutionary changes and take the kindergarten to new heights. Later as the ‘Academic Leader & Coordinator’, she took the responsibility of shaping her department consisting of more than seven hundred students every year, by ensuring their academic excellence as well as emotional well-being.
The other major responsibility being leading and training teachers, she set out to train herself through various early literacy programmes, Early Childhood Educator’s Workshops & Foundation Stage Courses and leadership /professional development programmes.
Back to India in 2014, she chose E.P.S., an IB World School, with an intention of sharing her experience and expertise with a fraternity which strives to facilitate the much-needed empowerment to young Muslims, through 21st century international education at a significantly subsidized cost. A place, where she got the opportunity to become a learner again and upgrade her repertoire with IB pedagogy and philosophy through a culture of regular in-house sharing of learning and PD sessions, external workshops and sessions by IB and inquiry experts and a great deal of reading about IB standards and practices. She has been contributing to the EPS mission in the capacity of Early Years Coordinator for almost five years now.
The very recent governance restructuring at EPS in March 2021, offered her the role of the Junior School Principal which places the complete responsibility of the Junior School-Nursery to Grade 5 on her with the PYP Coordinator and Grade Level Coordinators supporting and reporting to her.
