Real-Life Connections: Our Community, Our Responsibility

Real-Life Connections: Our Community, Our Responsibility

A talk with Community Helpers

As part of our Unit of Inquiry “How We Organize Ourselves”, the KG 1 team organized an in-house Community Helper Session to help students explore the concept of local community and understand the importance of interdependence and responsibility.

Students had the opportunity to interact with our school’s very own community helpers, including the guard, nurse, teacher librarian, coordinators, driver, admission officer, and maid. Each of them shared about their role, responsibilities, and how they contribute to keeping our community safe, healthy, and well-organized.

The interactive session gave our young learners the chance to ask questions, observe tools used by the helpers, and appreciate the value of teamwork in everyday life. The children not only learned about different jobs but also developed respect and gratitude for the people who support us daily. This experience beautifully connected classroom learning to real-life contexts, reinforcing the IB Learner Profile attributes of caring, knowledgeable, and communicators.
