EPS students visit IISER, Bhopal

The Children’s Science Meet talk was held at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Bhopal (IISER) on December 1st, 2024, as part of the inaugural session of the 94th Annual Session of the National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI).
EPS IBDP students accompanied by Science HOD – Ms. Saba Sultan and Science Educator – Mr. Hassan Rub visited IISER, which was an intellectually enriching experience, particularly marked by the lectures of two eminent former physics professors from IIT Delhi—Prof. Ajoy Kumar Ghatak & IIT Kanpur—Prof. HC Verma. The session by Prof. H.C. Verma was titled “Marks Aren’t Everything” and masterfully wove a narrative that transcended conventional academic pursuits, emphasizing the importance of curiosity and holistic understanding over rote learning. His unique ability to connect physics with nature was awe-inspiring. The second lecture focused on Einstein’s revolutionary equation, E=mc², by Professor A.K. Ghatak. Using relatable analogies and engaging visuals, the lecture revealed how this equation not only transformed theoretical Physics but also paved the way for groundbreaking advancements in science. Both sessions ignited a sense of wonder and encouraged them to approach learning with curiosity and purpose. This visit reaffirmed their belief in the transformative power of science in explaining and shaping the world.
