The internet is a double-edged sword. On the one hand as a boon, it has revolutionized communication, fostering learning and research, providing access to vast amounts of information, and creating economic opportunities. However, on the other hand, it can also be a bane when misused. It poses challenges such as privacy concerns, the spread of misinformation, addiction, and the digital divide.
On 12 July 2023, Grade 10 students conducted an assembly on the above topic. They highlighted both the benefits of the internet by performing a skit demonstrating how online shopping is better and more convenient than offline purchasing. They also conveyed the message of how the internet supported teaching & learning during the pandemic whereas on the contrary how internet & cyberbullying can be harmful to one’s mental health.
Finally, they concluded that the internet offers incredible opportunities, we must use it responsibly, safeguarding ourselves and others to truly harness its potential for good and ensure that it remains an effective tool for learning.
